30 Day Blog Challeng- Day #4

Your Favorite Book

Life Laughs by Jenny McCarthy

"Sometimes you just have to laugh.
If your hair is always perfect; if you always have an umbrella when it rains; or if you are never, ever late, this is not the book for you. If, however, you sometimes wake up feeling fat, are late for work, are gossiped about, are screamed at by your children, and are not fully adored and nurtured by your beloved, then this is the book for you. Life doesn’t always work out the way we plan. There are good surprises and there are bad surprises. Jenny McCarthy, the New York Times bestselling author of Baby Laughs and Belly Laughs, told you the truth about childbirth and about the first year of mommyhood. Now she’s telling the truth about learning to juggle it all: work, motherhood, romance, sex; and even what to do when a relationship just isn’t working anymore. She doesn’t have all of the answers, but she knows what it’s like to be a modern woman in a mixed-up world—and she’s not holding back.
With outrageously funny musings on faking it, what to do when your man thinks your friend is a bitch, hiding the Visa bill, and what to do when you turn into your parents, Life Laughs is the perfect book for those days when you just want to crawl back into bed, the days you want to raise a glass with friends, and anytime you just want to giggle." (Product Description from Amazon.com)

I'm not married (yet!) nor do I have kids, but I love love loved this book. Jenny McCarthy is so hilarious that I absolutely could not put this down! I can't wait until I'm pregnant and can read her book called "Belly Laughs" and I also can't wait to go and buy her new book "Love, Lust and Faking It".

This book is real raw and can make you cringe, but it's a totally real look at life!

30 Day Blog Challenge- Day #4

Your Favorite Television Program

ONE TREE HILL

I'm not going to lie, I'm addicted to just about any reality tv show there is out, but my heart will always belong to One Tree Hill. I started watching this show when it first came on the air and I immediately fell in love with it (and Chad Michael Murray)! As the seasons went on, I became more and more invested in the characters and what was going on in their lives. Each episode spoke something to me, whether it was about life or something I had went through or was going through. I felt like I grew up with the characters and was drawn into each and every episode every week. That is what makes something a favorite in my book.

I own every season on DVD and still rewatch them to this day. A few of the seasons actually helped me through a hard time when I was dealing with the loss of a friendship. One Tree Hill may be in its current last season, but it'll probably always be my favorite show because of what it speaks to me.

When Boredom Strikes- DIY Edition #3

I made my bling shoes when I was going to be wearing a different dress. Since ordering my new dress, I figured I needed something that went with it just a little bit more than the bling shoes. Plus, I'm only a few inches shorted than Derrick and those bling shoes have 3 inch heels. (I will, however, wear the bling shoes for some pictures).

Anyways, this sent me on another DIY mission and I made some Louboutin inspired kitten heel shoes!! I bought a $5 pair of white kitten heels that I came across at Shoe Carnival and then I bought some white ribbon and white fabric and white thread. I cut out petal shaped bases and individual petals out of the fabric and handsewn them on to a stip of white ribbon. I then sewed then ribbon onto the toe of the shoe and made a piece of ribbon to go around my ankle and tie in a bow in the back. Here's how it turned out.

The shoe before:

The completed shoe (excuse my pasty pale legs!)

Both of the completed shoes!

Completed shoes!

They are so cute and fun to wear!!

30 Day Blog Challenge- Day #2

Your Favorite Movie

I have to go extremely old school on this one! My favorite all time movie is actually "Beauty and the Beast".

There is just something so magical about this movie. I remember watching it on VHS when I was a kid and being so enchanted by the movie. Besides, what little girl didn't grow up wanting to be a Disney Princess? It's one of those movies that show you that Beauty is only skin deep. Beauty fell in love with the Beast when he was still a Beast and I think that's truly something that should speak to people. It kinda gives you that belief that true love really does set you free, you know?

I was so excited when I found out they were releasing Beauty and the Beast in Hi-Def again and imagine my surprise when Derrick came home after work with it in his hands!! I was so excited and best believe I popped that bad boy right in the DVD player and sang along to every word. Yeah, I'm a dork.

30 Blog Challenge- Day #1!

Your Favorite Song

I'm going to list my current favorite song because my tastes change just about every other week, lol. If I were to list what my favorite songs were back in high school you'd get a bunch of Backstreet Boys and *N'SYNC songs (who am I kidding, I still love their music!)

Currently, my favorite song is "Bleed" by Hot Chelle Rae. There is just something about the melody and the words to this music that just speaks to me. It's always hard for me to tell people how I truly feel, I was always one to have to pour my heart out onto paper. I do believe the first time I told Derrick I loved him, I wrote it in a love letter, lol. I was too nervous to say it in person along with everything else I wanted to tell him and I was afraid that he wouldn't feel the same.

Anyways, it's a great song.. I'll attach the lyrics to it as well:

Hot Chelle Rae
Bleed lyrics

I feel like I'm drowning in ice water
My lips have turned a shade of blue
I'm frozen with this fear
That you may disappear
Before I've given you the truth

I'll bleed my heart out on this paper for you
So you can see what I can't say
I'm dying here (I'm dying here)
'Cause I can't say what I want to
I'll bleed my heart out just for you

I've always dreamed about this moment
And now it's here and I've turned to stone
I stand here petrified
As I look you in your eyes
My head is ready to explode

I'll bleed my heart out on this paper for you
So you can see what I can't say
I'm dying here
'Cause I can't say what I want to
I'll bleed my heart out just for you

And it's all here in
Black and white and red
For all the times
Those words were never said

I'll bleed my heart out on this paper for you
So you can see what I can't say
I'm dying here
'Cause I can't say what I want to
I'll bleed my heart out just for you

I'll bleed my heart out just for you

Dieting is Wishful Shrinking..

{Source}

I totally forgot to come on here and give a weight loss update!!

This past Tuesday was the 2 week mark for me for not having any fast food or pop. In addition to that, I've been sticking to my 4x a week at the gym. Want to know what happened??

I know you do...

Drumroll please....................

I lost 5.5 lbs. Yes!! While it's nothing spectacular, it makes me feel really good about myself. Plus, losing weight at a healthy weight is 2-3lbs a wekk.. so I'm good there!

I hope all of you that are on a weightloss journey are doing well, too!

Most days I feel like this, though.

Introducing... My Bridal Party!!

Yesterday a wonderful thing happened... I added my fifth and final bridesmaid!! So now, I'm going to share with you all the wonderful girls that make up the bridal party!!

And yes, I've included myself in each picture because I'm just that vain! LOL! (Just kidding, the only pictures I really have of each of them seperately has me in it.)

My Beautiful Matron of Honor- My sister, Amanda. Even though she's about 10 years older than I am, she and I have always been super close. After losing my mom at such an early age, she really was a role model for me growing up whether or not she knew it. She's one of the strongest woman I know and I'm so lucky to have her as not only my sister, but one of my best friends!

My Beautiful Maid of Honor- My sister, Denise. We have had our ups and downs, but we've always been there for each other when it counts and that's what matters. She deals with my crappy, loud, off pitch singing in the car and while playing "Sing It" on the wii and that alone should earn her a diamond star! LOL! She's a strong person and I'm really grateful to have her as my sister and maid of honor.

My Beautiful Bridesmaid- My best friend, Heather. Heather and I have been friends for about 20 years now. I have known her since we were tiny tots in kindergarten. She is the best friend any girl could ask for, she's been more like a sister to me. She is an incredible person inside and out and I feel truly blessed to have had a friend like her for so long. Even with all the ups and downs we have had in our friendship, we always manage to become better friends than before and my wedding wouldn't be complete without her in it.

By Beautiful Bridesmaid- My friend, Sammy. I've known Sammy for a few years now through my old job. We became instant friends and quickly bonded over our love for boybands. She's been just a great friend to me over these past few years and it really makes me sad that I don't get to see her more since Derrick and I moved. She truly is my partner is crime and I always laugh when I'm around her and I'm sure she'll keep my laughing on the wedding day so I don't stress out.

My Beautiful Bridesmaid- My friend, Megh! I've known Megh for a few years now, too, and she's been such a great friend to me. She lives in Canada, so I don't get to see her very often, but when I do.. it's always a blasty-blast. I really wish I could see her more, but I'm so excited that she agreed to be a bridesmaid in the wedding even with the distance between us. She's been an amazing friend and influence in my life!

My Beautiful and Sassy Flower Girl- My niece, Olivia. She is the CUTEST and I mean the CUTEST little girl ever. She is so full of spunk and personality that she always has been laughing and smiling. She is the smartest little girl and loves to dance (she'll be a hit at the reception). She's been talking non stop about how she can't wait to wear a big poofy dress and throw petals at the wedding. She's a little model in the making and I just know she'll have so much fun with the pictures. (I included 2 pictures here.. one by herself because she's so adorable and one of us together to stay with the theme that happened.)

These are the girls that make my heart smile and have had some hand in making me the person that I am today. I'm so happy and excited that each and everyone of them has agreed to be in the wedding and I can't wait to share the big day with all of them.

Booked: Photographer!

One of the most important things to me when it comes to the wedding was picking an amazing photographer. Several months ago, we booked our photographer (one of the first vendors we booked) and I just wanted to share with you all how excited I am about her! Her work is amazing and she is so super sweet. She will be taking our engagement pictures in April or May and then our wedding in November.

Also, she is currently on bed rest pregnant with twins and could really use some good vibes and prayers her way so she doesn't go into labor early! =)

Anywho, here is some of her work (enagement and wedding)!!

Ahh! I can't wait!!

When Boredom Strikes- DIY Edition #2

I saw numerous posts on weddingbee about these DIY bling shoes. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love anything and everything that sparkles, so I had to try these out. After a trip to the mall, I found a pair of black heels on clearance for $5 and decided to give it a whirl. I then made my numerous trips to Michael's with my 50% off coupons and bought hundred upon hundreds upon hundreds of crystals and a tube of glue.

I got home that night and went to work on my fabulous shoes.

Four days and 20 hours later, my first shoe was done after some nips and tuck here and there.

Want to see?

Before picture of shoe.

Before picture: both shoes

In process of putting on the crystals.

I added a blue satin bow to the back.

Side view! I handsewn some crystals to the ankle straps.

Whole completed shoe!

A labor of love.

Aren't they super duper pretty?!

Ah yes, I love them so. Problem is, they don't necessarily go with the dress I have picked out, I have a hard time walking in heels and they make Derrick (my FH) and I almost the same height.

What did I do?

I made another pair of shoes that had a smaller heel and went with my dress more. Yes, I made another pair of shoes.. but we'll save that for another post.

I'm still going to wear these shoes for some pictures since I love them oh so much, though. That's right, I'm a two shoe bride.... well, 3 if you count the white flip flops I'm going to change into at the reception, lol.

Also, there is something I'm super excited about that might be going on soon (well 2 things I'm super excited about right now).. but for now, it's staying between Derrick and myself (no, I'm not preggers).. but I can't wait to share with you all when it's finalized and happening!! =)
